Different nationalist political parties celebrated Kashmir Foundation Day on 16 March 2018, in different districts of Azad Kashmir and also organized a Peace March/Rally. This “Peace March” was organized to deliver the message to India, Pakistan and the international community that Kashmiris want peace in the region and cross-border firing on the line of control (LoC) should be stopped immediately. Mr. Shaukat Ali Kashmiri said that now the world should understand that how the people of Azad Kashmir are being treated with such worst level of brutality. Even our wish for “Peace” is being pressed with power and shootings on protesters. The basic purpose of this Peace March was to deliver a message that cross-border firing on the line of control (LOC) in Kashmir should be stopped immediately
The matter of fact is that if Pakistan Army opens fire on Indian Occupied Kashmir or Indian Army opens fire on Pakistan Administered Kashmir, the people of Kashmir are being killed due to this cross-border firing. As a result, people of Kashmir have suffered greatly and even many of them even lost their lives. So, this protest was organized with the name of “Peace March” with a very straight message that we Kashmiris want Peace in Kashmir region. We know that Pakistan is behind all this terrorism as they are launching people from Azad Kashmir (Pakistan’s administered Kashmir) to Indian Occupied Kashmir to engage the Indian Army. If they make one fire on Indian Army, then Indian Army opens massive firing and shoot thousands of bullets on Pakistan’s Administered Kashmir (Azad Kashmir) because Indian Army has to show the superiority of weapon that they have much more weapon than Pakistan. But a Pakistan Army soldier who is sitting behind the military check-post on the line of control (LoC) don’t know that under which strategy they are being engaged in cross-border firing and why Indian Army opens fire on them. As a result of Indian Army firing, people are being killed in POK (Pakistan Occupied Kashmir). And when Pakistan Army fires on the Indian Administered Kashmir, it’s also a long-range fire and people on the other side are also being killed even who are also Kashmiris. As a result, most of the families are displaced and they left their homes which situated were very close to the line of control (LoC)
So mainly the purpose was to deliver the message that people of Kashmir want peace in the region and cross-border firing, infiltration and state terrorism should be stopped immediately. This was the whole purpose of this Peace March. It was held on March 16 because this day is the foundation day of Kashmir. Majority of Kashmiris celebrates this day and United Kashmir Peoples National Party (UKPNP) already announced that they will celebrate this day. So people come together in this Peace March so they could peacefully the deliver message to both countries India, Pakistan and International Community that Kashmiris want Peace on their land of Kashmir. And most importantly the people of Kashmir should be given the opportunities to live their lives peacefully. But unfortunately, Pakistan Army and its forces started shooting at peaceful protesters and get them injured. By doing this act they deliver their message that no one has the right to demand peace in this Kashmir region against their will
We want an open investigation of this matter that why the shooting took place on peaceful protesters and I strongly condemn this act and I strongly demand the answer that why Pakistan open fire on our people
